How long does it take to take effect?
Amlodipine does not act instantly.
Generally, blood pressure begins to decrease within the first 24 to 48 hours after starting treatment. However, the full effect is usually achieved after 7 to 14 days.
This happens because the medication accumulates gradually in the body. And although some people would prefer immediate action, this gradual effect is beneficial, as it prevents sudden drops in blood pressure that could cause dizziness or weakness.
How should it be taken?
Most of the time it is taken once a day.
It can be in the morning or at night, as studies show no significant differences between the two times. The most important thing is:
- Always take it at the same time.
- Don’t forget the doses.
- Maintain a consistent routine.
Although the medication has a prolonged effect, frequently forgetting to take it can cause blood pressure to become uncontrolled again.
