Using his maintenance access, Calvin retrieved a large canvas laundry cart from the building’s laundry area. He returned to the apartment, placed Nicole’s body inside the cart, and covered it with dirty maintenance rags. The high sides of the cart concealed the contents completely. He then pushed it through service corridors away from the main resident traffic.
He used the freight elevator to reach the basement, where the industrial garbage compactor was located in a locked room. There, he opened the loading door, placed Nicole’s body into the chamber, and activated the crushing mechanism. The machine compressed waste with hydraulic force, reducing it to a fraction of its original size. At approximately 3:00 p.m., the garbage truck arrived, exactly as scheduled.
