Are they dangerous or contagious?
No. Fordyce spots are not infectious, they don’t hurt or itch, and they are not related to sexually transmitted diseases . In fact, they pose no health risk, and many people don’t even realize they have them.
Why do they appear?
Their origin is related to the sebaceous glands, which in this case develop in areas where there are no hair follicles. They are not caused by bad habits or lack of hygiene, and they usually become more visible during puberty due to hormonal changes.
