Melanie was well known in South Florida’s real estate industry, particularly for her work in probate real estate. Friends described her as generous, supportive, and eager to help others succeed.
One friend, Mirielle Enlow, said Melanie never gave any indication that she was facing serious personal struggles. According to Enlow, their recent conversations were filled with positivity and optimism.
Friends also said Melanie’s daughters were the center of her life and that she was actively involved in her community.
Former investigative journalist and family friend Willard Shepard recalled speaking with Melanie about a month and a half before the tragedy and said there were no signs that something like this might happen.
The loss has also affected the educational community. Savannah and Sienna attended Downtown Doral Charter schools, where grief counselors were made available to students and staff. School officials described both girls as beloved by their teachers, classmates, and peers.
In a message to families, school leadership expressed condolences and support for everyone affected by the tragedy.
