I never thought a simple favor could turn into one of the creepiest experiences of my life.
It all started when my friend, Jenna, asked me to stay at her old apartment while she was out of town. She said it would be quick, just a couple of nights, and promised it was “totally fine.” I agreed—how bad could it be?
The first night was normal. The apartment smelled faintly of old wood and lavender, and the sunlight coming through the window made the space feel warm. I unpacked my bag, set up my laptop, and tried to get comfortable.
Then, the next morning, I noticed something strange.
The Weird Bumps
While making coffee in the tiny kitchen, my eyes caught something odd on the walls. Small, raised bumps, irregular in shape, almost like tiny knots in the plaster, but not quite. At first, I shrugged it off. Old buildings have quirks. Maybe it was just poor maintenance or some leftover residue from wall hangings.
But as the day went on, I noticed them everywhere—on the bedroom walls, in the corners of the living room, even near the ceiling. Some looked like tiny nests, some like skin stretched over a hard core. They were creepy. Oddly shaped. And moving slightly… or at least, it looked that way.
I tried to convince myself it was my imagination.
Uneasy Nights
The first night, I tried sleeping. But every time I closed my eyes, I felt like something was watching me. Every time I passed a bump, my stomach sank. My curiosity gnawed at me—I had to find out what they were.
So, flashlight in hand, I started examining them closely. One of the bumps had a tiny hole in it, almost like an entrance. I leaned in, heart pounding, and I swear I could see something inside moving.
That’s when I realized: these weren’t just bumps.
Investigation Mode
The next morning, I decided to do some research. I took pictures (without touching anything) and sent them to a friend who worked in building maintenance. She responded immediately:
“Those look like carpenter bee nests, or maybe some kind of termite infestation, but honestly… the shape is weird. Could be mold too, but it’s moving? You need to be careful.”
