Undecided expectant parents can breathe a sigh of relief: science has just lent a hand by officially designating the most beautiful girl’s name in the world, no less. This is the result of a study led by cognitive linguist Bodo Winter, a researcher at the University of Birmingham, and published last autumn by the British website My 1st Years.
The researchers presented a panel of volunteers with a hundred of the most common female names. The volunteers listened attentively to each name before the scientists meticulously analyzed their emotional reactions. Several specific criteria were considered: sound, musicality, rhythm, phonetic balance, but above all, the emotional impact on the listeners.
