My Uncle Forced Me to Marry a Beggar

The Secret That Changed Everything

The priest had just reached the part asking whether anyone objected to the marriage when Elias suddenly raised one hand.

The cathedral fell silent.

Even Don Arturo looked irritated.

Then Elias slowly removed the filthy jacket.

And everything changed.

Underneath the dirt and torn fabric was a perfectly tailored black shirt.

Then he reached upward and pulled away the tangled hair.

Gasps exploded throughout the cathedral.

The beard came off next.

People stood from their seats trying to understand what they were seeing.

Because the “beggar” standing beside me was not a homeless stranger at all.

He was Sebastián Del Monte.

Billionaire investor.

Owner of one of the largest private investment firms in Southeast Asia.

And one of the most powerful men in the country.

Don Arturo’s face lost all color instantly.

“Impossible,” he whispered.

Sebastián smiled coldly.

“Actually,” he replied calmly, “very possible.”

The entire cathedral remained frozen.

Journalists scrambled for cameras.

Board members looked horrified.

Sebastián reached into his jacket and pulled out a folder.

“For the past six months,” he announced clearly, “I have been investigating fraudulent financial activity connected to Valderama Holdings.”

Then he looked directly at Don Arturo.

“Specifically yours.”

The room exploded into whispers.

Don Arturo staggered backward.

“You set me up?” he shouted.

Sebastián’s expression never changed.

“No,” he answered calmly. “You exposed yourself.”

Then he turned toward me.

“Clara Valderama,” he said softly, “you were never the humiliation in this cathedral.”

His eyes moved briefly toward my uncle.

“He was.”

Minutes later, police entered through the cathedral doors carrying arrest warrants for fraud, embezzlement, and attempted coercion.

Don Arturo screamed while officers escorted him away in front of every guest he invited to witness my downfall.

And standing there at the altar beside the man I thought was sent to destroy me, I finally understood the truth.

Sebastián had not appeared by accident.

He had been investigating my uncle for months.

And the “wedding humiliation” Arturo planned became the exact moment his empire collapsed publicly.

As for me?

For the first time since my parents died, I was finally free.
