My mom came over to my apartment while I was at work and decided to “help” by deep cleaning everything as some kind of surprise. I never asked her to touch anything, but she went through my kitchen, my bathroom, even reorganized my closet like she pays my rent. When I walked in, she was smiling, candles lit, acting proud of herself.

I didn’t even thank her for cleaning. I just kept pointing at the wax and asking her how she thought this was acceptable. She started apologizing, saying she was just trying to do something nice for me. I told her nice would’ve been not touching anything at all. She left looking upset, and I haven’t called her since. If she’s going to “help,” she can start by not ruining my furniture.
