I married a waitress despite my parents’ demands – On our wedding night, she shocked me by saying, « Promise me you won’t scream when I show you this. »

An arranged marriage to save an inheritance

My name is Thomas, and I grew up in a wealthy family where everything was organized, controlled, and planned. My life was more like a business venture than a normal childhood. My parents always had a very clear goal for me: to make a good marriage, with the right person, in the right social circle.

On my thirtieth birthday, my father gave me his ultimatum: if I wasn’t married before I turned thirty-one, I would be excluded from the family inheritance. No discussion, no negotiation, just a cold and final rule.

After several uninteresting dates with women more interested in my name than in me, I met Camille, a waitress in a small café. She was down-to-earth, natural, smiling, and above all, sincere. It was then that I proposed this strange deal to her: a one-year marriage, only on paper, in exchange for financial compensation. After a year, we would divorce discreetly.

She agreed.
But not for the reasons I imagined.

On the wedding night, an unexpected revelation

The wedding was quickly organized by my family at an estate near Bordeaux. Everything was luxurious and perfectly arranged. Camille’s family felt a little overwhelmed, but happy for her.

Everything seemed to be going exactly as planned.
