Away from the spotlight, Lewis faced significant personal challenges. He spoke openly about overcoming substance addiction after years of struggle and later became an advocate for recovery, encouraging others to seek help without shame. In 2023, he revealed that he had been living with Parkinson’s disease, explaining that the diagnosis had led him to retire from stand-up comedy after decades on stage.
